From the title, I really wanted to like this, but the focus on integer vs. floating-point doesn't really get to the heart of why I love static type checking. There are so many other aspects where static typing makes life better. Hopefully you will write other posts that get into all the benefits that come from having the developer, the compiler, and the tools actually know the types of things and what operations are safe to do on them.
