I always find quotes like “Java is an older language, released in the mid-1990s” amusing in a list that includes Python. Python is older than Java. It just didn’t become popular until much later for a variety of reasons. I would argue that efficiency was the main thing that held it back.

Personally, I think that a first language should be chosen as a foundation for future learning unless you have something that you really need to write immediately. Then again, I’m coming at this from the point of starting a CS degree instead of learning later in life or from a bootcamp.
