I've had a Model 3 for a bit over two years now and we have driven it on several long trips. We live in central Texas and have taken the Model 3 to Orlando, Phoenix, South Dakota, and Minnesota. All of those drives are in the 1000+ mile range, each way. Thanks to autopilot, those have been the best road trips I've ever taken. The only time we ran into any range issues was going to the northern states in winter. At the time, Sioux City, IA lacked a supercharger making the span from Omaha to Sioux Falls a bit long for a single charge in the cold. We could do it, but it required really filling the battery before getting underway.

Personally, I think that charging the Model 3 generally fits in well with a long vacation drive. Charging goes well with rest stops and eating. I also think that most people completely overlook the fact that 99% of the time you charge at home, overnight. People who drive ICE vehicles have it in their heads that you would need chargers every week the way they need gas stations every week, but that's not how it actually works.
